November’s DIY Project: Create a felt leaf garland!

Posted on Nov 19, 2014 in Blog

This is a great project you can do with your children; I created mine with my mom. Plan to spend some time cutting out the leaf shapes; I actually watched a TV marathon and the time passed quickly.

diy1Step 1: Select your felt color palette; I chose a fall scheme because I wanted to use it in the fall and transition it into my holiday decorating.

Step 2: Select a leaf shape you like; I simply picked one up from my yard and traced it onto the felt.

Step 3: Cut out all of the felt leaves and stack colors together.

Step 4: Arrange the felt leaves in a colorful pattern repeat that’s pleasing to you.

Step 5: Sew the leaves together and create a garland that you can swag over an entryway or on a window frame.

I chose to wrap greenery around a drapery rod and hung it from the ceiling as shown. I draped the rod with the felt leaf garland and added holiday accents to create a beautiful display in the store.

I also made an extra garland to drape around the Christmas tree!

If you’re inspired to create a holiday felt garland, we’d love to see your creation!
