I love rustic antique brick walls! The texture and the natural character they bring to any space offers endless design options. I personally prefer to leave vintage brick walls "as found in condition." If you like, the bricks can be brushed down and vacuumed without destroying the facade. You may find it tempting to spray wash the brick walls, but please think twice! Spray washing will provide a lighter and more uniform color and texture, but it also removes all the character and age. As a designer, I love placing over scale mirrors or art on brick walls. Another interesting trend for 2016 is painting brick walls with murals, graffiti, or graphics featuring your favorite quote.
