New Year – New Design Possibilities!

Posted on Jan 13, 2016 in Blog

If you are considering redecorating your home, many of you may be wondering how do you get a design project off to a good start?  The talented McNabb & Risley design staff share their top tips!

Dona W. - Spark inspiration for a color scheme by identifying a place or memory that evokes positive emotions. Do you have fond memories of white sands and turquoise blue water seaside vacations?  Or does a crackling fire on a crisp fall evening make you feel warm and fuzzy?  Surround yourself with colors that make you feel good!

Tara W. - Dare to be yourself!  Trends and color palettes will come and go, but I believe whatever style you love will make you happy at home.

Jade K. - Find inspiration of what type of look you want to achieve for your space.  You can find inspiration everywhere!  Whether it be here in our store, in design magazines, or even on Pinterest, these photos help a designer create a custom look that is uniquely your own.  While I am not trying to copy these looks exactly for a client, the images act as a design mood board for your home.

Gabriella G. - To start a project, I always find something to be inspired by.  I usually find a piece of artwork at McNabb & Risley to start forming my color palette or perhaps a client's family heirloom to help inspire an overall feeling.  From there, I begin to build a look that is unique and personal!

Sara R. - I personally like to start a design project with a house call so I can analyze the space, the light exposure, and get a feel for how my clients like to live.  The next step would be inviting the clients back to McNabb & Risley to go over floor plans, furniture selections, and most importantly the designer fabric mix for the design presentation.  I absolutely love assisting my clients with beautifully decorated interiors that are classic and that they will love forever!

Linda C. - Make 2016 the year that you fall back in love with your home!  Maybe you envision a new layout for your space with beautiful new fabrics or refreshing what you have with a change of art or lamps.  The start of your design project is knowing that there are wonderful possibilities and connecting with someone who will help guide you on your journey.
