October’s DIY project: painted pumpkins!

Posted on Oct 26, 2017 in Blog

Today is Thiensville's Business Trick or Treat from 4pm to 7pm and we are decorating the front of the store with these stunning hand painted pumpkins!  Since we have had an unseasonably warm Fall, the pink geraniums are still blooming and I wanted to enhance them with artistically painted pumpkins in bright turquoise and white with golden stems.  This is a simple DIY project that you can complete in 45 minutes!

Step 1: Wash the pumpkins, dry, then paint the stems with gold craft paint.

Step 2: Select a colorful contrasting paint for the top of the pumpkin (I selected white and turquoise) and brush the paint on in uneven strokes covering the top half of the pumpkin.  The streakier the paint, the better!

Step 3: Let dry overnight and place in a covered area.  Enjoy!
