Cozy slipcover furniture is trending for 2017! McNabb & Risley Interior Designer Krystle N. just completed this stylish keeping room off her clients farmhouse style kitchen. We love the huge sliding wood barn door and all white kitchen cabinets. Krystle added a linen slipcovered sofa with an attached chaise and added contrast striped accents pillows. She then custom ordered the over scale check area rug for more texture interest. Such a great spot for the family to relax while dinner is cooking! We loved the interiors you designed Krystle, thanks to you and your client for sharing this beautiful home with our readers! -Tara
The dinette is a space that I wanted to bestow a calm and more subdued color scheme. This is the space where the family spends most of their time every day. I chose not to line the custom window treatments to allow natural light to flood in because privacy was not an issue. Soft linen with visually appealing textures contribute to the organic serenity of the space and the shades complete the look. From meals to helping their two young girls with their homework, this is where the daily family dynamics prosper. -Krystle N.
The teal accents in the dining room are simply stunning and pair well with the gray flooring. The handcrafted rug adds the right amount of color so it does not overwhelm the room. The custom area rug also offers a necessary texture to give the space some depth. The oval back dining chairs, dining table, and buffet render in the farmhouse feel with their reclaimed wood finish. Custom aqua window treatments frame the inset window and complete the space. -Krystle N.
The colorful abstract art above the buffet adds the right amount of character this space needs with bold color and organic brush strokes. Bringing in the reclaimed whitewashed frame defines the modern farmhouse style. Flanking the art with two pewter lamps provide symmetry as well as extra lighting. I'm a huge advocate for mixing metals, so accessorizing with this gold branch is leaving my stamp on this room. -Krystle N.
The foyer of the home is a very important space. This is your first experience when entering a home, therefore, it has to make a definitive statement. I definitely had fun bringing this space to life with vibrant colors and distinctive shapes. I made sure to keep a good balance throughout, even the reclaimed antique window frame mirror above the console is off center to compensate for the height of the yellow lamp. This attention to detail made all the difference in the design! -Krystle N.

The Great Room aesthetic speaks soft, color-curated, farmhouse with a modern day flare. I chose this rug for the Great Room because of its appeal to be considered a modern heirloom. The hand knotted oriental rug provides the right amount of contrast on the cool gray wood flooring. The casual style of this white slipcovered sectional and reclaimed wood and metal tables pull it together creating the perfect ambiance. -Krystle N.
The Great Room custom floral drapery is what makes this space so dramatic! The colors in the gorgeous linen fabric pull this room together perfectly. The soft gold makes a statement while providing an inviting warmth and the steely blues give a cooling calmness. This color combo provides a peaceful place for the family to relax while reflecting on their busy day. The aqua chair in the corner is comfy and stylish and I added a kidney pillow for a subtle contrast. I found a soft gold, ivory, and aqua oriental rug that grounds the space and adds the just the right amount of pattern! -Krystle N.

Our interior designers are often requested to work with a client's existing oriental rug, usually an heirloom passed down over several generations. Many clients have fond memories of the rug being in their grandparents' home and are emotionally attached to the rug and wish to use it in their new interior. Our designers welcome the opportunity to work with your heirlooms because they understand how important they are to you and your family. If you are like me and not lucky enough to inherit an oriental rug, you can purchase beautiful heirloom quality orientals here at McNabb & Risley. This is a remarkable carpet I hand selected on my last buying trip, it is a hand knotted, 100% New Zealand wool rug imported from India. This is a new take on a classic Oushak, only in a more subdued color palette in ivory, taupe, and soft golds. Find this rug locally at McNabb & Risley and save during the Spring Home Sale!

When this table arrived in the store I was so excited. Typically, round tables become oval when leaves are inserted; and finding one with self –storing leaves is rare. Imagine my delight to find that this 54” round table extended to a 70” round AND had self-storing leaves.
The mechanism on this table is amazing! You expand the table by sliding the pie shaped leaves outward and bring the hidden leaves forward; it all fits together like a giant puzzle. There are no heavy leaves to store and haul out and the whole process takes about a minute. I thought it was so ingenious and modern! Imagine my surprise when I learned the mechanics of this round expanding table was created in the Victorian Era C.1835.
I enjoy showing this beautiful table more than any other piece of furniture in the store because of the delight and wonder it elicits from customers. I invite you to come in and see for yourself why this quality, unique, table would be perfect for the casual lifestyles of today and become a family heirloom!
