Oh my goodness, love it, right?! In the 1920’s Flappers were fashionable young women who wore their hair in bobs, wore short, lavishly beaded dresses and danced the Charleston til dawn! They were the forerunners of the new modern, strong, independent women. They loved jewelry like the vintage necklace, circa 1930, featured above. Bold geometric shapes like our trillion cut stones and bronze finishes were the rage. Our vintage necklace is the real deal…and there’s only one…and you could be wearing it this weekend!
Our Art Deco mirror features a beveled center mirror with an antique silver scalloped edge which is entirely etched by hand. This mirror would look fabulous in either classic or modern interiors.

The soft color palette of flint gray, icicle and silver cloud creates a dynamic yet subtle Art Deco inspired area rug. The strong geometric pattern is typical of the era and so very luxe!

TARA’S TAKE ON DESIGN:
This month I’m inspired by the exuberance of the Art Deco period. Originally Art Deco was known as “Style Moderne”, it originated in France, c.1925 and continued to be popular throughout the Jazz Age. Many believe the French art exposition at the Le Musee de Art Decoratifs was responsible for the massive trend that captured the heart of Europe and later, the United States.
I think of the Art Deco period as being a modern approach to design which focused on rich color, bold geometric shapes and luxuriously crafted furniture and art. We are now once again influenced by Art Deco design. It’s appearing in the movies, as evening wear and even in fine jewelry.
This month we’re celebrating all the glamour of the 1920’s and 30’s; I hope you enjoy my blog this month!
