Buzzworthy: In the Press!

Posted on Sep 8, 2016 in Blog

My clients, Steve and Vicki Gall, were recently featured in Sunday's Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Fresh Section on August 14th.  Writer, Nancy Herrick, emphasized the benefits and popularity of small home living in the article, "Smaller homes appeal to both empty nesters and millennials."  This is a trend we are tracking at McNabb & Risley, and I wanted to share a few more pictures of my clients' design project.  I hope you enjoy!

My clients downsized to a smaller custom home with an open concept that is all on one story.  The space appears to be larger than the square footage because of the huge banks of windows, high ceilings, and open floor plan.  This space features a stunning stacked limestone fireplace with a raised hearth.

We chose a restful palette of taupes, gray-blue, and teal tones.  The painterly abstract wool rug acts as art underfoot and appealed to my art collector clients.

The stylish entertainment center complements the custom kitchen cabinets and serves as an important focal point in the great room.  I love the graceful serpentine front and the combination of maple and ebony wood stains.

Oak, birch, and pine combine to create the multiple wood tones in the chevron patterned buffet.  The handcrafted finish is antiqued to bring out the depth of finish, yet is smooth to the touch.  The rustic buffet houses extra china and glassware for my clients.

Custom cornice made to order!  Many of you may not realize that McNabb & Risley makes custom window treatments, shades, and drapery to fit any size window.  This stylish yet simple cornice board finishes the great room and enhances the wood blinds.
