The Boston Skyline

The Boston Public Library lions

The Boston Public Library is widely known as the most beautiful library in America. It was designed by the famous New York firm McKim, Mead and White in the late 1800’s. The library is not a museum but certainly feels like one! You will be able to view Classic Renaissance Revival architecture and be surrounded by fabulous art and sculptures, including the famous John Singer Sargent murals.

The pair of lions are sculpted from unpolished sienna marble by artist Louis Saint Gaudens.

Boston Public Library Gardens

Relax and explore the exquisite “reading” gardens and daydream about the Gilded Age.

The sculpture garden in the central courtyard is in the manner of a Renaissance cloister. The library facade is similar to the Palazzo della Cancellaria, a 16th Century Italian palace in Rome.
